We did it. Woo Woo.

The record shows we had over 2,000 people in the middle of town in the event square.

We handed out 1,500 whistles.  In order to have received an official train whistle for the event, you had to register and sign in.

Besides the Website, you can go to this facebook page created back in 2011, which has great photos and other historic information about bringing the train back.  Andrews to Murphy Rail Reactivation.

The top video to the left is from the event. The bottom video is an interview conducted by Austin Tibbets and Richard More with past Mayor Bill Hughes.

In this interview conducted on April 24, 2018, Austin Tibbetts and Richard More interview Mr. Bill Hughes, a retired mayor and elementary school principal in Murphy, NC on his memories of the Murphy branch railroad operations in and around Murphy, NC. Enjoy the time Bill gave us as he shares about his memories of the Murphy branch line and his grandfather's link to the railroad which gave Mr. Bill first hand experience of its operations.
